| Abstract: | Modern trains constitute a decisive competitive factor in competition between the various modes of transport and also incompetition between railway operators. This article discusses those performance characteristics of modern railway vehicles that really countin the eyes of customers. It then moves on to analyze the extent to which inter-modal and intra-modal competition as well as competitionbetween the manufacturers have contributed to the modernization of railway fleets and what is required to ensure that this trend will continuein future as well. |
