Transit vehicles stopping to load/unload passengers on-line at a signalized intersection can obstruct the flow of other vehicles. The TRANSYT model ignores the delay to other traffic caused by this loading/unloading process. This can cause TRANSYT to use incorrect flow profiles, resulting in signal timings that cater to these profiles rather than the actual ones. This paper describes a new model for representing near-side transit stops in lanes shared by public transit and private vehicles, and its implementation into the TRANSYT-7F program. The results of an initial application of the proposed model are also described. The proposed model, which is a deterministic simulation model, is able to represent the effect of near-side transit stops on the other traffic; this representation covers both total and partial blockage of the approaches during the transit loading. The procedure has been incorporated into the TRANSYT-7F program. This allows appropriate representation of the adverse effects of transit loading on-line during a green phase. It thus encourages the TRANSYT optimizer to push transit loading to the red phases.  相似文献

Several methods are discussed for minimizing the sum of linear collection/distribution costs from/to a number of zones, and non-linear costs at processing ports. The non-optimality and computational implications of approximating non-linear cost functions for use with the linear programming technique are discussed. A simple graphical technique is presented and two computational algorithms are developed which make use of the special structure of the problem. The algorithms are illustrated using a simple example. Both algorithms converge to global optima. One is more suitable for hand calculation and the other is easier to program, but both are easily programmed and are computationally efficient.  相似文献

This paper proposed a novel feature selection method LUIFS (latent utility of irrelevant feature selection) that not only selects the relevant features, but also targets at discovering the latent useful irrelevant attributes by measuring their supportive importance to other attributes. The method minimizes the information lost and simultaneously maximizes the final classification accuracy. The classification error rates of the LUIFS method on 16 real-life datasets from UCI machine learning repository were evaluated using the ID3, Nave-Bayes, and IB (instance-based classifier) learning algorithms, respectively; and compared with those of the same algorithms with no feature selection (NoFS), feature subset selection (FSS), and correlation-based feature selection (CFS). The empirical results demonstrate that the LUIFS can improve the performance of learning algorithms by taking the latent relevance for irrelevant attributes into consideration, and hence including those potentially important attributes into the optimal feature subset for classification.  相似文献
