| Abstract: | The legal responsibilities, rights, duties and obligations of masters and pilots, the preparation for pilotage before vessel arrival and the pilotage of vessels'entering or leaving are discussed in the paper. The complicated legal relationship between master and pilot, the prevention of accidents during pilot embarkation and disembarkation, and the reasons for master not correcting pilot's mistakes in time are clarified. Several vigorous, effective and practical measures for the safety of vessels during pilotage are put forward. |
