The scattering problem involving water waves by small undulation on the porous ocean-bed in a two-layer fluid,is investigated within the framework of the two-dimensional linear water wave theory where the upper layer is covered by a thin uniform sheet of ice modeled as a thin elastic plate.In such a two-layer fluid there exist waves with two different modes,one with a lower wave number propagate along the ice-cover whilst those with a higher wave number propagate along the interface.An incident wave of a particular wave number gets reflected and transmitted over the bottom undulation into waves of both modes.Perturbation analysis in conjunction with the Fourier transform technique is used to derive the first-order corrections of reflection and transmission coefficients for both the modes due to incident waves of two different modes.One special type of bottom topography is considered as an example to evaluate the related coefficients in detail.These coefficients are depicted in graphical forms to demonstrate the transformation of wave energy between the two modes and also to illustrate the effects of the ice sheet and the porosity of the undulating bed.  相似文献

Global strength is a significant item for floatingproduction storage and offloading (FPSO) design, and steel weightplays an important role in the building costs of FPSO. It is the maintask to consider and combine these two aspects by optimizing hulldimensions. There are many optional methods for the globalstrength analysis. A common method is to use the ABS FPSOEagle software to analyze the global strength including the rulecheck and direct strength analysis. And the same method can beadopted for the FPSO hull optimization by changing the depth.After calculation and optimization, the results are compared andanalyzed. Modern management techniques are slowly but surely being introduced aslo in shipping management. Large sections of the industry practises strategic management at various levels in the firm. This paper outlines a method for deciding chartering strategies in the international bulk shipping industry. A well known risk/return model is tailored to transportation contracts in the shipping industry. The model delineates a set of optimally defined transportation contracts that may serve as a basis for the shipowner's strategic decisions. The strategies and elements of strategies suggested by the model have historically been practised by a number of successful shipowners. An important conclusion of the paper is that no second best problems exists and hence movement towarts the optimal solution is advocated even if such a solution cannot or will not be reached. Additionally, the paper provides an organized way of crafting, analysing and applying chartering strategies where the outcomes can be clearly defined and analysed based on well known statistical concepts and theories.  相似文献

Relatively long term time series of satellite data are nowadays available. These spatio–temporal time series of satellite observations can be employed to build empirical models, called satellite based ocean forecasting (SOFT) systems, to forecast certain aspects of future ocean states. The forecast skill of SOFT systems predicting the sea surface temperature (SST) at sub-basin spatial scale (from hundreds to thousand kilometres), has been extensively explored in previous works. Thus, these works were mostly focussed on predicting large scale patterns spatially stationary. At spatial scales smaller than sub-basin (from tens to hundred kilometres), spatio–temporal variability is more complex and propagating structures are frequently present. In this case, traditional SOFT systems based on Empirical Orthogonal Function (EOF) decompositions could not be optimal prediction systems. Instead, SOFT systems based on Complex Empirical Orthogonal Functions (CEOFs) are, a priori, better candidates to resolve these cases.In this work we study and compare the performance of an EOF and CEOF based SOFT systems forecasting the SST at weekly time scales of a propagating mesoscale structure. The SOFT system was implemented in an area of the Northern Balearic Sea (Western Mediterranean Sea) where a moving frontal structure is recurrently observed. Predictions from both SOFT systems are compared with observations and with the predictions obtained from persistence models. Results indicate that the implemented SOFT systems are superior in terms of predictability to persistence. No substantial differences have been found between the EOF and CEOF-SOFT systems.  相似文献

海洋平台桩腿高强度大厚度板材在切割焊接前预热对于减少结构裂纹十分必要。本文利用Jmatpro软件计算出NV E690板材的热物理性能参数,并根据金属学理论进行了修正。通过查阅文献,采用碳当量计算式来计算得到预热温度,结合企业生产实际,确定NV E690板材的预热温度为220 oCS。在此基础上基于热弹塑性有限元法数值模高强度大厚板板材的预热过程,与实测数据对比,验证了材料高温物理性能参数的可靠性,为进一步研究提供了理论依据及数据支持。  相似文献

Inadequate ports are a major problem in many less developed countries (LDCS). In an era in which international trade involving developing countries is growing rapidly, decisions must be made to provide the necessary infrastructure and superstructure to facilitate the movement of cargo from ship to shore and vice versa. In LDCS, the phenonmenon of the Combined Naval-Commercial Port (CNCP) has not undergone scrutiny. This paper is concerned with describing the nature of the Latin American CNCP. The hypothesis is that commercial port interests have been adversely affected by coexistence. The results of an unquiry comprise the main body of this research.  相似文献

大型全冷式液化气船(VLGC)是液化气船市场上的一型高技术、高附加值船舶,一直以来为日本、韩国所垄断。江南造船自上个世纪九十年代末投入研发力量以来,经过十余年的不懈努力,终于在2012年打破国外的技术垄断,成功接单,实现了我国在该船型上零的突破。本文主要介绍了该船型在总布置设计、液舱设计、线型开发和CFD优化以及完整稳性和破舱稳性分析等方面的技术问题。通过这些研究,对该船型的开发和总体设计工作有了一个比较完整的认识,积累了丰富的经验,为快速响应市场需求,抢占订单打下了坚实的基础。  相似文献

Careers are seen as important to individuals, organizations and to the world at large. As globalization processes continue to transform seafaring careers, David Cockroft's 'Editorial', published in the 30-year issue of this journal, calls on the maritime community to recover fundamental aspects of the human element that made seafaring an attractive career option 1. Norway has historically been the 'essence of maritime things'; where seafaring may be considered an 'ancestral 'calling'. Due to the current public and academic attention placed on the Norwegian 'maritime cluster', there exists a dearth of academic studies focused on the experiences of the highly qualified Norwegian seafarers who helped to shape the maritime industry. Drawing upon the literatures in both career research and maritime studies, in-depth conversations with 41 Norwegian seafarers attempt to redress this imbalance; to unpack some of the human 'elements' connected with seafaring careers. The qualitative method of career narratives is used in order to explore the richness of experiences associated with seafaring as a calling; to identify both contextual facilitators and contextual hinderers associated with going to sea. Norwegian scholars are encouraged to participate in future conversations with multiple maritime stakeholders to continue the process of recovering the call to seafaring careers.  相似文献
